Have A Happy, Healthy Thanksgiving

Introduction

As we approach Thanksgiving, it is a time to come together and share what we are very thankful for. Now is a special time for us all to share some laughter, reminisce about great experiences, share some wonderful food and some love.

If you are looking for a healthier option this Thanksgiving, this is your “game plan” for continued success on your health journey. This meal plan also follows the Wild Avocado Feel Great method to identify and remove harmful foods from your nutrition. The Wild Avocado Feel Great Method was foundational to my personal journey to overcome food addiction, excessive hunger, prediabetes, Autoimmune Disease, Heart Disease, and a rare neurological disease.

This recipe “game plan” also incorporates many great vegan dishes for those of you that are vegan. Each recipe indicates the dietary classifications at the top (Vegan, Vegetarian, etc.). We also include the nutritional aspects of the various foods. Traditionally people thought of foods as calories, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. That is the old-school method. Here at Wild Avocado we think of food as their nutritional and “healing” aspects. The famous Greek physician Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food”. You will see those nutritional aspects indicated in the recipes with more information.

What Inspires Us

The inspiration for this healthy Thanksgiving feast comes from 4 generations of cooking. My great grandmother, grandmother, and mother all inspired my cooking. Many of the recipes here have been handed down for many generations (modified for healthy alternatives). My great grandmother, Nan Summey, was an exceptional cook. I am grateful for my experience learning from her when I was a child. I always say that Nan inspired farm-to-table, as she was an Iowa farmer who incorporated the food she grew into her own meals, over 100 years ago. If she were alive today, she would be hoping that we can come together as a great people and nation and share more love.

By focusing on eating beneficial foods this holiday season, you will be on the path to feeling better and optimizing your health.

With many thanks this special Thanksgiving and much love to everyone.
