Air Fried Chicken

Serves 3 to 4 as a protein entrée. The recommended portion for males is 6oz, while females are 4 oz.

Equipment Needed

1. Air Fryer
2. Oil Sprayer
3. Temperature Probe


20 oz skinless, boneless chicken breast or 28 oz skinless chicken legs. (approximately 27 to 28% of a chicken leg is bone)
Spices to taste - See options below. Chefs Choice is Chef Paul’s Magic Seasoning (the Seafood one is a good all-around choice)
Avocado oil
Salt and pepper to taste


1. Spray the chicken with the avocado oil

2. Sprinkle the spices on generously (see below for spice options)

3. Spray the chicken with the avocado oil a second time

4. Set the Air Fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

5. Set the timer to the following:

Chicken Breast – 20 minutes depending upon the thickness of the chicken breast
Chicken Legs – 18 to 20 minutes depending upon the meatiness of the chicken legs

6. Check the temperature to make sure that the chicken is cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit

7. Serve and enjoy (salt and pepper to taste)

After Cooking Alternatives

1. Roll in Frank’s Hot Sauce to create buffalo chicken

2. Cook with salt and pepper. At the end brush on Hawaiian BBQ Sauce, Chef’s Choice is Primal Kitchen’s Organic Hawaiian BBQ Sauce

3. Cook with salt and pepper. Brush on sugar-free BBQ sauce, Chef’s Choice is Primal Kitchen’s Organic Unsweetened BBQ Sauce

Fried Chicken Spice Recipe

4 Teaspoons salt
1 Tablespoon dried thyme
1 Tablespoon dried basil
2 Teaspoons dried oregano
2 Teaspoons celery salt
1 Tablespoon black pepper
2 Tablespoons mustard powder
4 Tablespoons paprika
4 Tablespoons garlic salt
2 Tablespoons powdered ginger
3 Tablespoons white pepper (substitute black pepper if you don’t have ground white pepper)

The Nashville Spicy Variation adds 1/4 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper depending on how spicy you want it. You can really make it spicy, the Nashville way.

Instructions: Mix the previous spices together in a glass jar and add to the chicken. This is plenty of spice for a fair amount of chicken depending on how much spice you want to add. These are 11 herbs and spices from a famous Fried Chicken Place in Kentucky.
